MVU Middle School is hosting a book drive from May 6-17. If you have any lightly used young adult books that you would be willing to donate, please bring them to Ms. Percy, Ms. Hillyard, Ms Moore, or Ms. Cook's rooms. These books will be redistributed for students to take home over the summer. There is a Middle School Thank-you Dance on Friday, May 10th 7:00-9:00 in the MVU Commons. FREE ADMISSION TO STUDENTS IN GOOD STANDING (no office referrals for the 2018-2019 school year). Prizes given away in a raffle. The National Junior Honor Society Induction Ceremony is today, May 7th in the Trahan Theatre at 6:00. The National Honor Society Induction Ceremony is Wednesday, May 8th in the Trahan Theatre at 6:30. Vermont Precision Tool is offering a 4 weeks of no cost advanced manufacturing training this summer with guaranteed employment upon completion. Starting wage of $14.00/hour with potential to earn $16.00/hour or more after one year. Participants will receive training in Material Science, Blueprint Reading, Geometric Dimension and Tolerances, Precision Measurement Techniques and more. Participants will earn up to 25 college credits upon successful completion of the training. Please see Mr. Barwin for more information. Attention all current 8th, 9th, 10th, & 11th grade Students who are interested in being on Student Council next year; please fill out an application, note the position you would like to run for and return it to Mrs. Larose in the high school office. UVM Summer Academy: Designed for motivated high school students who have completed 10th, 11th or 12th grade, the University of Vermont’s Summer Academy is an outstanding, academically challenging 4-week program (2 weeks on-campus, 2 weeks online) that provides students with the opportunity to earn credits, explore a specific area of career interest, experience college life and showcase their talent and ambition to college recruiters. Search the uvm.edu website for information and see your school counselor for assistance. Summer Opportunity here at MVU 7/29 - 8/2: Rosie’s Girls – is a summer camp program in its 20th year that gives middle school girls hands-on opportunities in a variety of STEAM fields, including welding, carpentry, computer programming, and forestry. One of the most important parts of the program is our Junior Staff, made up of 1 Junior Instructor/week who supports our adult staff in delivering camp activities and other camp logistics. It is an opportunity to grow as a leader and experience camp from a new angle. We are looking for a young woman or gender non-conforming student entering grades 10-12 who might be interested in this opportunity. You don’t need to have any experience with STEAM but it will certainly be an enhanced experience if you are interested in related fields! There is a $100 stipend for the week.
