Feeling the Love Many students (and staff!) around the building today were spotted with beautiful carnation flowers. The Future Business Leaders of America club sold Valentine's carnations as a fundraiser. Each carnation was delivered with a personal message from the sender, and many people at MVU sent a flower to friends and significant others. The Fundraiser
Mrs. Szafarski, the FBLA club adviser shared that the purpose of the fundraiser was to raise money for the FBLA State Leadership Conference that is being held at Lake Morey Resort in March this year. The club would like to send each of its members to the conference, but that comes with a hefty price tag. Between registration and travel fees, FBLA needs to raise around $2,800. The students of FBLA are designing every aspect of each fundraiser that they hold, and by doing so they are practicing the very skills that future business leaders need. "They have a business goal that they want to accomplish," Szafarski said. "They are willing to put in the planning and the hard work that goes along with achieving that goal." At the conference, students will hear from keynote speaker Kent Julian, a professional speaker and dual business owner, participate in workshops related to business functions, and are able to network with students from across the state (and eventually, the nation). Students compete in business events and receive valuable feedback from business professionals. It is an awesome opportunity for personal and professional growth, prizes, scholarships, community service, networking, and so much more! Donations Despite the success of the carnation sale, and future planned fundraisers, FBLA could still benefit from the community's help. The club is currently accepting donations from community members and local businesses.
